Why do you enjoy writing about cars so much? Well, I love cars and I love writing about automobiles because I have a significant personal interest in this subject. I love Luxe cars and Researching about them!

Whether you are considering purchasing one of the sought-after pre-owned Maseratis for sale in your area or searching for one at a dealership, you must weigh the pros and cons.

Now, I’ll admit that when I was compiling this list, I expected there to be far more cons than pros.

However, it appears that the opposite is true, and the benefits outweigh the drawbacks.

Nonetheless, it is critical to recognise both the reward and the risk of purchasing a used Maserati, even if ignoring the risk in the end is worth it

Maseratis are gorgeous cars, but the new cars  should only be purchased by those with a lot of money.

Why? because they are Expensive to purchase and maintain, and even if you do it yourself, the parts are imported and expensive.

The good news is that these cars depreciate quickly, which is one of the main reasons people like buying used Maseratis so much

I did a bit of research to find  out more  . So, why are Used Maseratis are so cheap? Here is what I found.

1.Are They Attractive? No Doubt! But have dated Tech

Maseratis look amazing and have complex mechanical features, but their tech is dated.

They didn’t offer Bluetooth till 2017. Their infotainment system lags cheaper rivals. Slow, not intuitive, and regularly crashing, say owners. The interface feels quite old.

Maseratis’ technology doesn’t match their luxurious price.Whether it’s a Quattroporte or a Ghibli, they’re both stunning and fast.

They are, after all, advertised as both luxury and performance vehicles.

It would be foolish to get one solely for the purpose of performance or for the sole purpose of comfort.

Purchasing a pre-owned Maserati is a significant investment, so it’s critical to understand what these vehicles are capable of.

2. Expensive Insurance

A used Maserati is still a high-performance automobile, despite the fact that it costs less.

As a consequence of this, the costs associated with insuring fast cars are significantly greater than those associated with the average vehicle.

The annual cost of insurance for a GranTurismo 2010 ranges from approximately $1,500 to $2,500, depending on your age and previous driving record.

3.They are Quite Unreliable

It has never been widely held that Maseratis have produced cars to the same standard of quality as their  German competitors.

Their designers are capable of creating stunning automobiles, but the mechanical and electrical dependability of their vehicles is typically considered to be below average.

In point of fact, out of forty different car brands, the research company Reliability Index in the United Kingdom identified Maserati as having the lowest reliability. They went so far as to say that the GranTurismo was the least reliable car of any vehicle in the whole industry.

One of the possible explanations for these problems is that the cars in question are so technically complicated that it is difficult to construct them in a manner that is both reliable and consistent during the manufacturing process.

As a consequence of this, there is a possibility of breakdowns in their systems over time.

4. High Repair & maintenance Costs

In addition to repairs , maintenance does cost more than any standard car.

Maserati ownership is very expensive in terms of real dollars. May not be that far off compared to other car brands that produce similar cars (BMW, MBZ, Porsche).

Of course, the cost of ownership is not limited to repairs and also includes depreciation, maintenance, and consumables.

Related: Why Maserati Repairs are Expensive

Not only are Maseratis notorious for their low build quality, but the expense of repairing and maintaining them is also rather high.

Repairing a luxury vehicle, such as a Maserati, will typically be more expensive than working on a more common vehicle.

Everything is more expensive as a result of the so-called “Maserati Tax,” from getting an oil change to purchasing spare components and even paying for labour.

On the MaseratiLife message board, a number of Maserati owners have stated that the regular cost of an oil change is somewhere in the range of $350 to $650, whereas the typical cost of repairs is somewhere in the range of $4,000 to $8,000.

You would be responsible for paying the entire price of the repairs out of pocket because the majority of used Maseratis available on the market today are not covered by any kind of warranty.

This means that the original owners enjoyed the benefit of having the repairs covered under warranty.

So, folks who have the financial means to purchase a brand-new Maserati might not be as concerned about performing routine maintenance on the vehicle because they might only retain it for three to five years before purchasing another one.

This leaves the subsequent owner with a vehicle that requires even more maintenance, which is a significant contributor to the fact why used Maseratis are currently available at such attractive prices.

5. Not many Maserati dealer found across the country, So, Maserati Parts are harder to get

Only around 120 Maserati dealerships can be found across the entirety of the United States at this time.

As a point of contrast, Other car companies like Ford has  around 3000 dealers across the country and  If you have ten times fewer dealers than you did before, it may be difficult for your clients to find a location nearby.

Because of this, it is now more difficult to obtain replacement components, and repairs that would normally be completed in a matter of days could take up to a week.

In addition, because of the restricted number of Maserati dealerships (and automobiles), there are not a lot of skilled Maserati technicians spread out across the United States.

This applies to both the official dealerships and the independent garages that service Maseratis

As a result, mechanics who specialise in working on Maseratis are able to command a higher price for their services.

It is not unusual to be charged between $160 and $220 per hour for labour, regardless of whether diagnostics or repairs are being performed.

6.Some Risk while Buying Pre-Owned Maserati:

Now that we’ve discussed how good they look and how fast they can go, it’s time to consider the disadvantages and Risks.

Even if they depreciate quickly and you can get one for Just $30,000, you must keep in mind that they are also expensive in the long run.

For example, some of Maserati models only gets 11 mpg city and 14 mpg highway, indicating that it is a massive gas taker.

If something breaks, which is more likely than in a regular car because it is a high-performance luxury sedan, you won’t be able to fix it yourself.

As a result, you will be forced to look for someone to do the work for you.

Unfortunately, this task becomes even more difficult when you realise you can’t simply take it to your neighbourhood corner garage to have it serviced.

You must locate a specialist type shop/dealership that is familiar with working on imported, foreign vehicles.

Furthermore, labour , parts and repairs will be highly  expensive for two reasons.

  • The first reason is that it is a high-performance vehicle, and those parts are not cheap.
  • The second reason is that it is a foreign vehicle, which means that even something as simple as a door handle will be costly.

7.Maserati Resale value is Low

One of the main reasons Maserati repairs are expensive because their parts are harder to source and replace due to the limited number of suppliers of rarer components.

Also, They take quite a Lon time to get Repaired due to Unavailability of quality spare parts. And for the same reason to how other used cars lose value over time.

When purchasing a new car, the moment your Sales Agreement is funded by a conventional lender, the vehicle is considered used.

Despite having barely 20 miles on it, it is no longer brand new. This marks the start of the item’s gradual deterioration.

In the first two years, the majority of vehicles and trucks will depreciate the most.

Whereas the first three years will see a sharper reduction for your high-end autos. Despite the fact that this particular used car is at the top of the market,

In other words, if I’m looking at a high-performance automobile for $260,000, that’s the one I want. In other words, what will the next person do if you put it up for sale two years from now with some use and wear on it?

How much did you spend on your used Maserati? or spend an additional $25,000 to purchase the desired new one? Without the risk associated with how yours was kept up.

I find it amusing how the wealthy live their lives while the rest of us sit and wonder why we would spend so much money on a vehicle that is best used on a racetrack. instead of a practical vehicle to drive to work, the store, etc.?

I did a Survey In a FB Group of Maserati owners and 80% if them said they don’t get parts easily some even said they wait for weeks and even months to get parts shipped.

Audrey Rodgers says

” Well everything of mine needs to be shipped and is impossible to find.

A hell storm hit us a couple weeks ago going on vacation and my new windshield is $3940.00 and that’s mainly the windshield the labor is only $350″

The resale value of luxury cars Like Maserati are affected by the high maintenance and ownership prices.

According to a study done by automotive research firm iSeeCars.com, the Maserati Quattroporte has the highest depreciation, dropping 72.2%, about $US 95,393, between 2014 to 2019.

Luxury cars depreciate heavily in general.

The cars that are especially expensive to maintain will often show up for sale like that, because someone was coming up on some major maintenance and didn’t want to deal with it.

Seeing as how some Maseratis are built right alongside Ferraris, they would definitely fit in that category.

Don’t ever consider one ‘on a budget,’ unless there’s a gun pointed at your head and your only other choice is to set your money on fire. Luxury car wash products you must try

So, why are Used Maseratis are very Affordable to Purchase

Many drivers are surprised at how inexpensive it is to purchase a used Maserati. The Maserati Ghibli and the Maserati Quattroporte are two of the automaker’s best-selling models.

Inside and out, these ultra-luxury sedans exude exceptional power and elegance.

The Quattroporte and Ghibli have the highest three-year depreciation rates in the sports car category, according to a recent study.

Both of these models have a three-year depreciation rate of more than 50%.

Their high starting prices account for the steep depreciation rates.

For less than $40,000, you can get a Quattroporte or Ghibli from the 2018 model year.

Buying a used car can also reduce your upfront and incremental costs. Taxes, title, registration, and insurance on used cars can be less.

This reduces not only the cost of acquisition but also the cost of ownership, potentially raising the value of trade-in at a later date.

That’s clever.

8.They depreciate quickly, which is a good thing.

You are already aware of Maserati’s superior road performance.

Every Maserati  (pre-Owned or NEW) will depreciate quickly, and it’s not uncommon to find one with anywhere between 60-80% off it’s original $100,000 price tag.

Luxury cars have steep depreciation because owners likely trade them in when they become outdated and used car buyers don’t want to pay a high premium on a dated model,”  iSeeCars CEO Phong Ly said in a prepared statement.

For Instance, A 2015 Maserati Quattroporte with only 40,535 miles is available for $40,000 online or with a dealer.

A car that used to cost upwards of $90,000 is now worth $20,000 and is in relatively good condition.

Maseratis have a unique depreciation rate in the luxury sports car market, which is one of the reasons they are so appealing.

Even newer Maseratis depreciate quickly, and it’s not uncommon to find one for 60-80 percent off the original $100,000 price.

Buying Certified Pre-Owned Cars Might Mean You’re a Smarter Car-Buyer

If you’re worried about the costs of repairs and maintenance that come with buying a used car, a CPO ( Certified pre-owned)vehicle may be worth considering.

CPO vehicles are more expensive because they’ve been rigorously inspected to ensure they meet manufacturer standards.

All major systems are refurbished, repaired, or replaced as needed, reducing reliability concerns. Most certified pre-owned programmes include extended warranties that alleviate such concerns.

The perks range from car rental allowances to satellite radio and assistive support services such as OnStar.

Consider a CPO programme if you want a little more assurance when buying a used car.

However, there is a large disclaimer here.Maserati isn’t known for its dependability, and its vehicles are expensive to maintain, as you’ve probably heard.

While buying a used Maserati is appealing due to the lower prices, neither the Quattroporte nor the Ghibli has high reliability ratings from experts such as Consumer Reports.

The NHTSA has issued six vehicle safety recalls for the 2017 Quattroporte and five for the 2017 Ghibli.

As a result, we would not recommend these models as ideal daily drivers.

8. Buy it as a Fun Car/weekend car: Not be your daily Driven car

However, there is a way to effectively ignore the risk while reaping the benefits of owning a Maserati.

Simply purchase it as a toy car. $40,000 for a 2015 with only 50,000 KMs isn’t bad, especially considering the type of vehicle.

However, unless you can afford the significant upkeep that comes with daily use, only buy it as a weekender car.

Don’t use it as a daily driver because the wear and tear will necessitate more frequent (expensive) repairs, and the 11 mpg city and 14 mpg highway will drain your wallet.

You can enjoy the Maserati experience to the fullest if you plan ahead with your financing and only buy it as a car to take to shows or out on the weekends.

Furthermore, $40,000 is less than the price of a typical 2016 sedan on the market today.

So, if you’re looking for a second vehicle to drive to work five minutes away, or simply a weekend cruiser, why not consider a Maserati?

Would a used Maserati with low miles be a great car to have?

With a few qualifiers, it would be an excellent decision. Invest in a full inspection at your local Maserati store beforehand.

Make sure there are no surprises when it comes to repairs, as they can cost a lot of money.

Second, keep in mind that the cost of service and insurance will be substantially higher than you are used to. It costs me about $2000 a year to get my GT serviced by my dealer.

Also, Pirelli tyres are going to cost you a lot of money, and they’ll probably only last you approximately 14000 miles.

All of this, even the need for premium fuel, is worth it in my opinion because it’s such a fantastic vehicle.

But be sure you have the money to cover the costs of owning such a high-quality vehicle.
