It never fails that I get hungry when I’m on the road, and the last thing I want to do after checking into my hotel is dash off to the vending machine there.
Instead, I always make sure to enquire in advance about the availability of a refrigerator and a microwave in the hotel, as well as the proximity of a grocery store.
When I go grocery shopping, I stock up on convenient finger foods that call for minimal or no preparation, such as fruits, pre-cut vegetables or baby carrots, dry-roasted nuts, Greek yoghurt, and whole-grain cereal with milk. I bring food like popcorn with me if there is a microwave available.
